Rates update on working days.

Reference rates may differ from bank or card-provider rates.

Convert between supported currencies

Enter an amount, choose the source and destination currencies, and the converted value appears when the latest available rate has loaded. The swap control reverses the pair, while the result also shows both the direct and inverse rate.

The converter supports a practical selection including GBP, EUR, USD, JPY, AUD, CAD, CHF, CNY, INR and several other widely used currencies. The published rate date is shown beside the result so you can see which reference period was used.

How the conversion is calculated

The entered amount is multiplied by the reference exchange rate for the selected pair. If one pound were worth 1.25 US dollars, for example, £100 × 1.25 would produce $125. The inverse rate in that example would be 0.8 pounds for one dollar.

Changing the amount does not request a different rate; it applies the same loaded rate to the new value. Selecting a different currency pair fetches an appropriate rate for that pair.

Reference rates are not transaction quotes

Banks, card providers, bureaux de change and payment services may use different rates and add margins or fees. Reference data can also be based on the latest working day rather than the current moment, so use the result for comparison and planning rather than as a guaranteed amount you will receive.

The converter obtains its dated reference rates from the Frankfurter exchange-rate API.

FAQs

Questions about the currency converter

Are these live market exchange rates?

They are the latest available dated reference rates supplied by the data service, not a live executable trading quote.

Why might my bank show a different amount?

Providers can apply their own exchange rate, margin and fees. Card transactions may also use the rate from a later processing date.

What is the inverse exchange rate?

It reverses the relationship. If 1 GBP equals 1.25 USD, the inverse shows how many pounds equal 1 USD.

Does selecting the same currency change the amount?

No. When both currencies are identical, the rate is 1 and the entered amount remains unchanged.
