Compare products on the same basis

Choose items, weight or volume, then enter at least two products with their price, size, unit and number of packs. The calculator converts every option to a common base quantity, ranks them by unit cost and highlights the best value.

Weight comparisons can mix grams, kilograms, ounces and pounds. Volume supports millilitres, litres and UK or US fluid ounces. Item mode is useful for multipacks where each pack contains a count rather than a measured amount.

How unit pricing reveals the better deal

A larger pack is not automatically cheaper. Divide price by the total quantity, then compare equivalent amounts. The result shows a convenient price per item, per 100 g or per 100 ml, plus a larger reference amount and the percentage difference between the best and highest unit cost.

Pack-size example

£3.20 for 500 g costs £0.64 per 100 g.

£5.50 for 1 kg costs £0.55 per 100 g, so the larger pack is better value by unit price.

Value is more than the lowest unit price

Only compare like-for-like products and include every pack in a multipack offer. The cheapest unit rate may not be best if some product will be wasted, storage is difficult, quality differs or buying more strains the immediate budget. The currency selector formats prices but does not convert between currencies.

FAQs

Questions about the best value & unit price calculator

How do I compare grams with kilograms?

Select Weight and choose the correct unit for each product. The calculator converts both sizes to grams before comparing unit cost.

Can I compare multipack offers?

Yes. Enter the size of one pack and use the Packs field for the number included in the offer.

What does the saving percentage compare?

It measures how much lower the best unit rate is than the most expensive valid option in the current comparison.

Does the tool account for product quality?

No. It compares price and quantity only; quality, shelf life, waste and personal preference remain separate considerations.
