Calculate the tip and divide the total

Enter the bill, select a preset tip from 0% to 20% or choose a custom percentage, and set the number of people. The result separates the original bill, tip and combined total, then shows each person’s share of the bill and tip.

GBP, USD and EUR options make the result easy to read in the chosen currency. They format the entered figures but do not perform an exchange-rate conversion.

Two-person example

Bill: £85. Tip at 12.5%: £10.63.

Combined total: £95.63. Split between two: £47.81 each after currency rounding.

How the split is worked out

The tip equals bill × percentage ÷ 100. The bill and tip are added, then divided equally by the number of people. The calculator also displays the bill-only and tip-only share, which is useful when checking the arithmetic on a group payment.

Check service charges and rounding

Some venues already include a service charge, so inspect the bill before adding another tip. Equal division may not suit a group that ordered very different amounts. Currency display rounds each shown figure to two decimal places, which can create a few pence or cents of difference when individual rounded shares are added back together.

FAQs

Questions about the tip calculator & bill splitter

Does the bill amount include an existing service charge?

Enter the amount you actually want the percentage applied to. Check the receipt first to avoid tipping twice unintentionally.

Can I choose a custom tip?

Yes. Select Custom and enter any percentage from 0% to 100%.

Can I split the bill without a tip?

Yes. Choose the 0% preset and the calculator divides only the original bill.

Why can the rounded shares be a penny short or over?

An exact division can contain fractions smaller than the currency unit. Each displayed share is rounded to two decimal places.
